Awesome first ever Trust Paddle Trip!
On July 19th, the Trust conducted its first ever paddle trip on the Willamette. The trip went from Independence to Salem, and featured information about floodplain habitat, the Willamette Greenway, freshwater mussels and Wapato!
At the take out, Wallace Marine park.
The group of folks who joined the trip were awesome, and enjoyed a relaxing and informative day on the water. We limited the group to 22 participants for safety, and also to be able to impart key information about the river.
In addition to freshwater mussels and Wapato, the group witnessed adult and juvenile bald eagles, got to see some very healthy floodplain forest, and heard migratory songbirds singing from the riparian areas!
Enjoying some swift current, 2mi upstream of Salem.
The trip was just great! We will conduct another one on September 6th, so stay tuned for registration in late July. Thanks again to everyone who took part!
